Brrrrr COLD [Dec. 10th, 2009|01:07 pm]
[Current Mood | mellow]

When I got up at 8 am, it was 18 deg, with a wind chill temp of around 0 deg. It is still 18 at 1 pm, and windy. Not as bad as last night, but still cold. I don't think I like that, LOL

ps For those who don't know what wind chill is here is what Wikipedia says:

"Wind chill is the apparent temperature felt on exposed skin due to wind. The degree of this phenomenon depends on both air temperature and wind speed"

Windows 7 [Oct. 25th, 2009|12:14 am]
Installed windows 7, seems to be good, except...it won't let get to Stories of Arda because the security is too high on the site.

I now have 6 flameless candles, and do they smell nice and they look great!  Darling hubby bought them for me.  He's the greatest!

The answer [Oct. 14th, 2009|12:47 pm]

The answer to the riddle I posted yesterday is:

  A deck of cards

Here is the explanation:
A dozen Royals, gathered 'round - Kings, queens, and jacks
entertained by two who clowned - the two jokers
each king had servants ten - Ace thru 10
though none of them were men - numbers rather than face cards
The lowest might defeat the king in a fair fight -  In pinochle, Ace takes a king
the last line names the suits:
            A weapon stout - Clubs
            A priceless jewel - Diamonds
The beat of life - Hearts

               Hope you enjoyed the riddle.

A riddle [Oct. 13th, 2009|10:56 pm]
[Current Mood | amused]

Saw this in a story on ffnet and thought maybe I would post it here:

“A dozen royals gathered ‘round, entertained by two who clowned. Each King there had servants ten, though none of them were also men. The lowest servant sometimes might, defeat the King in a fair fight. A weapon stout, a priceless jewel, the beat of life, a farmer’s tool. What is it?”

Yippee!  Got rid of the knee brace altogether.  Now having occupational therapy, and got okay to go back to work - with restrictions, of course, but will be getting a paycheck soon.  Great day! LOL!

Dr visit [Aug. 27th, 2009|01:46 pm]
Got good news from Dr.  No surgery will be needed, but will have to wear a knee brace for the next two weeks.   It's bigger than the knee immobilizer I had earlier,  as it covers the whole leg.   It does feel better, tho.

Evidently I did more damage to my knee than what they found last night.    The radiologist called me about three hours ago. and said he wanted me to have a knee immobolizer.  Now, I have an appointment Thursday morning with the orthopedic surgeon.  He wants to do a CAT scan, and see just how bad the fracture is.

The nurse- physician showed me the x-rays.  There appeared to be a small depression on the fibula plateau.  The fibula is the largest bone in the leg and bears the weight.   He might recommend surgery, although I hope and pray it works out all right.  When I know more, I'll post it.

Lifes lesson [Aug. 25th, 2009|03:35 am]
Life's lesson #12 -  Make sure you are on the bottom step of the stepladder BEFORE you start to walk!   I now have a badly strained knee - courtesy of the cement floor I landed on.  PAIN!  LOL.  Luckily, that was all the damage I did.  However, I don't think my boss will let me get on another ladder - ever.  On the other hand the personnel at Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital were very nice and put me at ease.

Things found in new appliances [Aug. 13th, 2009|06:15 pm]
We went to Target's yesterday and they had a waffle iron on sale.  When we got it home and unpacked it, a card fell out.  Now, I usually don't have cards falling out of brand new appliances.  The card was still sealed, with no name on the envelope.  The card was signed, however.

When I opened it, it said "To the happy couple on your wedding day."   Evidently, someone received it as a wedding gift, then returned it - leaving the card inside.  No cash, however, LOL!~

Way to go Cavaliers and Indians!  Looked like the Indians were playing football instead of baseball, with a score of 22-4. 14 runs in one inning!  Yikes.  And the Cavs!  Would love to see them go all the way!  I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
